Loretta G. Eagan Rinaberger, 89, of Fairfield, IA passed away Friday, October 18, 2019 at her home under the care of Hospice Compassus. Visitation will begin at noon on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the Cranston Family Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held in the Midway Cemetery in Floris, OK on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 11:00.
Loretta was born to Charles Edwin Eagan and Dora Gladys (Ward) on November 27, 1929 in Beaver County Oklahoma. Loretta’s grandparents were early pioneers in the Oklahoma Panhandle, northwest of Forgan. Paternal grandparents were PL and Flora Eagan; maternal grandparents were DR and Fannie Ward. During the Dust Bowl her family spent some years in Denver. Her husband John Thomas’ family were homesteaders in the Ditch Valley region of Harper County OK. She married John Robert Thomas of Rosston, OK in 1950. She later married Don Rinaberger of Fairfield. Loretta completed High School at Greenough in 1948 and graduated in 1952 from Panhandle A&M at Goodwell, OK. She earned a master’s degree from Truman State University in 1978. She began her teaching career in Forgan Oklahoma in 1953-54. She moved to Fairfield in 1969 and began teaching elementary students at Logan, Lincoln and Lockridge, until her retirement in 1992. Loretta enjoyed socializing with friends each week and was active in her church. She had an excellent memory for the students she taught. For several years, she acted as Chaplain for Women’s Club and portrayed “Mrs. McIlhinny” at McIlhinney House. A voracious reader, Loretta was seldom without a book in hand. Loretta was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fairfield, Fairfield Women’s Club, Iowa Retired School Personnel, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Friday Flexibles women’s breakfast group. She enjoyed Tuesday morning coffee with friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her three siblings, Doris Bailey, E. Eugene Eagan and Edna Gray.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Thomas, Hopkins, MN, Gail Thomas, of Fairfield, IA and Beaver OK, and her grandchildren, including William Kin Thomas, Jeremy Huss, John (Stephanie) Huss, Ahrim Strider Putnam, and Jackson V Thomas. She was also blessed by several great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Edna Gray will be held on Monday, April 8, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with Reverend Aaron Wagner officiating.
Edna Irene (Eagan) Gray was born January 23, 1940, to Charles Edwin Eagan and Gladys (Ward) Eagan in Denver, Colorado. Edna passed away in Alva, Oklahoma, April 1, 2019, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Edna was the youngest of four children.
In 1946 when Edna was five she and her parents moved to the Panhandle of Oklahoma. She grew up at her family’s farmhouse west of Forgan, Oklahoma, in Beaver County. She attended and finished at Forgan High School. She later attended Panhandle A & M at Goodwill, Oklahoma. She met Robert (Bob) C. Gray and they married September 21, 1961, in Stratford, Texas. To this union two sons were born: Robert E. (Bobby) Gray in 1962 and John “Mike” Gray in 1967.
Edna worked as a beautician for several years then went to work at the Dairy Queen, which was owned by her in-laws Johnny and Clela Gray. In 1978 Bob and Edna bought the Vista Motel across from the water tower and sold it in 1986. In the spring of 1987 they took over and ran the Dairy Queen until their retirement in 2011. The Dairy Queen had been in the Gray family for 53 years.
Edna loved attending her two grandkids' activities and through the years attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University games and attended Oklahoma State University football and basketball games with her son Mike and his family. Edna loved to take trips to Branson, Missouri, and spend time with her two grandkids, Connor and Ashley Gray, the children of Mike and Billie Gray.
Edna is survived by her son Mike, daughter-in-law Billie Jo, and twin grandchildren Connor and Ashley of Perkins, Oklahoma. She loved living in Alva and always enjoyed seeing customers and friends at the Dairy Queen. She is now with her husband Bob who passed in 2014 and her oldest son, Robert.

Sheila Kay Eagan VanVleet born March 19, 1963. Married Garret VanVleet. 1 boy Eddy, 2 girls Kelli and Kaitlyn. Own and operate Myriad Machine in Liberal. Sheila works in the office.
Joyce Diane Eagan Chappell born July 14, 1959. Married Johnny Chappell. 1 boy Jeremy, 2 girls Carissa and Ila. Johnny is a rough neck on drilling Rigs. Joyce works at Walmart.
Donna Jean Eagan Meek born July 21, 1962. Married Kevin Meek. 1 boy Josh. Kevin is a warehouse man for Bunzell Packers, shipping tools, equipment and wearing apparel for Packing Plants.

Edwin Eugene “Gene” Eagan 79, died, February 22, 2015 at his residence in Liberal, KS, He was born Nov. 2, 1935 at Englewood, CO. the son of Charles Edwin and Dora Gladys (Ward) Eagan. He graduated from Forgan High School in Forgan, OK. In 1953 he joined the US Air Force and was stationed at James Connaley Air Force Base in Waco, TX for eight and half years being discharged in 1962. In 1963 he moved to Liberal, KS. He had been employed at Liberal Truck Service as the Parts Manager for 9 years, and had also been employed at Fairmont- Truck Parts as a Salesman and Blakely Crop Ins and a Crop Adjuster. He also had farmed on the family farm.He was a member of the American Legion Post #80.He was in the US Air Force from 1953 to 1962 during the Korean & Viet-Nam Era. On May 12, 1956 he married Willie Mae Skopik in Waco Texas. Other survivors include. 5 Daughters Cheryl Ann Klitzke and husband Rex Ransom, KS Joyce Chappell and husband John Liberal, KS Donna Meek and husband Kevin Liberal, Ks Sheila Van Vleet and husband Garret Liberal, KS Jeanne Beer and husband Brad Liberal, KS 3 Sister Doris Bailey Wayzata, MN Loretta Rinaberger Fairfield, Iowa Edna Gray Alva, OK11 Grandchildren Rusty and Ryan Klitzke; Jeremy, Carissa and Ila Chappell; Joshua Meek; Eddy VanVleet, Kelli Van Vleet Roberts and Kaitlyn VanVleet; Shannon Beer and Shawna Beer Quint. 9 Great Grand Children He is preceded in death by his Parents. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday at the St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Father James P. Dieker and Rev. Rex Petty presiding. Burial will be held at Liberal Cemetery.
